Seeing TXT_KEY_blah_blah? Read this!

  • You’ve just patched to 3.17.
  • You are running BUG Mod.
  • You see strange text like "TXT_KEY_PLAYEROPTION_LEAD_ANY_CIV" on the Options and Espionage screens.

This doesn’t affect game play, but it sure does look ugly! You have four solutions, from easiest to most "difficult":

  1. Wait a week for the release of BUG 3.0. This will be fully 3.13 and 3.17 compatible and include fixes for when you play without Espionage.
  2. Remove the file causing the trouble. This will not cause any problems for BUG. The inclusion of the file was a mistake. Delete the file "My Games\Beyond the Sword\CustomAssets\XML\Text\CIV4GameText_BTS.xml" (or "Mods\BUG Mod\Assets\XML\Text\CIV4GameText_BTS.xml" if installed as a mod).
  3. Upgrade to BUG 2.30. Make sure to uninstall first. If this doesn’t solve the problem, you haven’t completely uninstalled BUG — perform option 2.
  4. Upgrade to the latest BUG from our code repository on SF.net. Instructions to do so are in this post.

Remember, just pick one of the options.

IFATS Series: Combinatorial Peptides Identify {alpha}5{beta}1 Integrin as a Receptor for the Matricellular Protein SPARC on Adipose Stromal Cells.

Stem Cells. 2008 Jun 26;

Authors: Nie J, Chang B, Traktuev DO, Sun J, March K, Chan L, Sage EH, Pasqualini R, Arap W, Kolonin MG

The biological features of adipose stromal (stem) cells (ASC), which serve as progenitors for differentiated cells of white adipose tissue (WAT), are still largely undefined. In an initiative to identify functional ASC surface receptors, we screened a combinatorial library for peptide ligands binding to patient-derived ASC. We demonstrate that both primary and cultured human and mouse stromal cells express a conserved receptor targeted by peptides found to mimic SPARC, a matricellular protein that is required for normal WAT development. A signaling receptor for SPARC has not as yet been determined. By using the SPARC-mimicking peptides CMLAGWIPC (termed hPep) and CWLGEWLGC (termed mPep), isolated by panning on human and mouse cells, respectively, we identified alpha5beta1 integrin complex as a candidate receptor for SPARC. Based on these results, we evaluated ASC responses to SPARC or SPARC-mimicking peptide exposure. Our results suggest that extracellular SPARC binds to alpha5beta1 integrin at sites of focal adhesions, an interaction disrupting firm attachment of ASC to extracellular matrix. We propose that SPARC-mediated mobilization of ASC through its effect on alpha5beta1 integrin complex provides a functional basis for the regulation of WAT body composition by SPARC. We also show that alpha5beta1 integrin is a potential target for ASC-selective intracellular delivery of bioactive peptides and gene therapy vectors directed by the SPARC-mimicking peptides. ______________________________________________________________________________ Author contributions: J.N.: Collection and/or assembly of data; B.C.: Collection and/or assembly of data; D.T.: Collection and/or assembly of data; J.S.: Collection and/or assembly of data, Data analysis and interpretation; K.L.M.: Conception and design, Provision of study material or patients, Other (manuscript editing); L.C.: Conception and design; E.H.S.: Data analysis and interpretation, Manuscript writing, Other (manuscript editing); R.P.: Conception and design, Financial support, Administrative support, Data analysis and interpretation, Other (manuscript editing); W.A.: Conception and design, Financial support, Administrative support, Data analysis and interpretation, Other (manuscript editing); M.G.K.: Conception and design, Financial support, Administrative support, Collection and/or assembly of data, Data analysis and interpretation, Manuscript writing, Final approval of manuscript.

Midwest Flooding… Food for Thought

?

Remember what happened in New Orleans?

Most people do. Consider this….
Food for thought?
**
Where are all of the
Hollywood
celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring
Iowa
and helping the folks affected by the floods?
**
Where is all the media asking the
tough questions about why the federal government hasn’t solved the
problem? Asking where the FEMA trucks (and trailers) are?
**
Why isn’t the Federal Government relocating
Iowa
people to free hotels in *Chicago**?*
**
When will Spike Lee say that the Federal Government blew up the
levees that failed in
*Des Moines**?*
**
Where are Sean Penn and the
Dixie
Chicks?
**
Where are all the looters stealing
high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets?
**
When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to
rebuild a ‘vanilla’
*Iowa**, because that’s the way God wants
it?*
**
*Where is the hysterical 24/7 media coverage**,*
complete with reports of cannibalism?
**
Where are the people declaring that
George Bush hates white, rural people?
**
How come in 2 weeks, you will never hear about the
Iowa
flooding ever again?
Ever wonder why CNN is airing a television show called “Black
in America” and has a complete website devoted to this topic, but
CNN has no website or television show scheduled to discuss the
issues of being “White in America”?

Disheartening Insurance Company

Merchant Ratings

Connally Insurance Agency

“Disheartening Insurance Company”

I would not recommend that anyone does any business with this company. They rarely answer the phones, do not take emails and try their hardest not to work. I had a client who had been with them for over 40 years. He is 88 years of age and became ill this past spring. He fell behind on his payments for his homeowners insurance. I personally sent a ckeck to reinstate his policy for him. They then proceeeded to cancel his policy and not reinstate his coverage. They told me he was in a bad neiborhood and they would not cover it. This gentleman was with them for 40 YEARS!!!! I was forced to seek other insurance for my client which was through the same underwriting company and it was 400 dollars cheaper!!! I strongly would urge anyone who is a current client to shop your rates and would NOT recommend that anyone do business with this company.

The Joyful Duty of the Honesty of Service

I’ve missed a few important events here at Casa de Broadsheet over the last few weeks.

Lemme try and catch up, but not perhaps in chronological order.

I flew to Portland, OR early last Friday morning. When I landed, there was a news alert on my cell phone. “NBC ’s Meet the Press News anchor Tim Russert is dead of a reported heart attack”.

I was shocked. The first thing I said to my travel companion was; “isn’t it ironic that he died on Fathers Day weekend - after all he wrote about Big Russ and his son”.

Well, I didn’t have time to react or watch anything other than a few seconds of CNN in my hotel room over the weekend, or for the next few days, until now.

His son Luke said that “there was never a day that went by that I didn’t know my Dad loved me completely”. That’s the best memory / reality you can leave anyone. Hands down.

I wanted to embed the Springsteen video tribute here, but the best one is being hosted by CNN and I can’t embed it directly, so here is the link.

Please go here….
to watch the tribute.
